“Mommy” as she is most affectionately known and called by almost everyone, migrated from Hanover, Jamaica when she was 23 years old. Arriving with her sister Faith and my Dad in the 1970s in Harlem, New York as the first-generation migraters.

Let me introduce you to the seed. Ashley is an entrepreneur who comes from a family of entrepreneurs. Her Family owns a few take out Jamaican restaurants and her goal was to diversify the family’s portfolio with The GrottoBK. Ashley’s love for food and culture inspired her to travel internationally to embrace the flavors of other countries and islands. She decided she wanted to have a restaurant where she can bring the flavors from her travels and introduce it to the community.
